Detox Day #4 -Still no sugar and a summary of my experiment to follow tomorrow…
With absences from school and work, sky-high, I received an email from a friend:
“Can you talk about what foods to avoid and what foods to eat in order to avoid getting sick and if sick, to get better.” -Tiffany
Well Tiffany, ‘tis the season for feeling “under the weather”, and this is a wonderful question as there are many things to take into account in order to avoid catching a “bug”.
First and for most, a healthy and clean celled body cannot be a host for bacteria and viruses. That being said, there are many factors that can play a role in the state of our overall well-being: (our environment (stressors), pollution, everyday toxins, etc.). Many of these things, stress included, are difficult if not impossible to avoid. The one thing that we can control, however, is also one of the most crucial factors in determining the state our health—our diet!!!
My teenage siblings are both “under the weather”. My sister has gotten progressively worse. Both of them have diets very rich in bread products, sugar and very little vegetable intake. Depending on your particular situation, I may suggest slightly varying dietary changes, the following chart is a basis for foods to avoid in order to eliminate from your diet now, to getting sick or sicker.
What should you concentrate on enjoying?
What do you eat or make when you are feeling sick?
How do you stay healthy when everyone around you is getting ill?

When I feel as if I am starting to get sick, I run to my juicer and make a huge glass of vegetable juice mmmm! I think I have avoided catching the cold this winter because of my constant juicing.
