You can always take steps to become healthier! There is no need to wait until chemo is over.

Red meat and wine are very acidic, yes. I would reduce and eliminate meat, and any dairy. You can find lots of other healthier protein sources that are much more alkaline, like quinoa, spelt, kamut, legumes... broccoli, spinach...

My suggestion would be to start taking steps towards eliminating acid foods, and start incorporating more pH friendly foods, and beverages in as much as you can. (If you need your meat, shoot for wild fish. If you need cheese, try raw goat, or sheep. There are plenty of less acid-forming foods to keep your body strong during chemo, and will benefit you in the healing process.

Unfortunately, I had never heard of this ph balance thing...I probably had a very acidic body as I didn't drink water, loved red meat and drank wine. I have now been diagonised with breast cancer. It's not in the family and it's environmental. So, know I'm on chemo and looking at doing what I can to keep it from coming back.

Will I be able to get my ph balanced or am I just going to have to wait until I'm done with chemo? I was thinking I just need to eat the majority of the green list and keep my meats between 4-6 oz and drink lots of water...which I actually am going, but could probably do even better.

I actually bought some ph strips to test my level and I was at 6.0....

Just curious if I could get busy getting me and my husband on the way to a healthy body!

Thanks!

Hi Tim,

Yes, I understand that many people rely on medications. These medications are very acid-forming. For this reason it is even more pertinent that they concentrate on a highly-alkaline diet.

For someone looking to improve their health, and perhaps come to rely much less on medication, I would suggest they enjoy a diet rich in the "green area foods" (on the chart) and try to really limit or avoid more acid forming foods and beverages.

For instance... I would highly recommend they concentrate on a alkaline forming breakfast and lunch (i.e trade in your coffee for a freshly pressed carrot or green juice in the AM, fruit salad, banana smoothie, etc. etc.).

Then for dinner, try to limit your meal to only 1 or 2 acid-forming things. If you are going to enjoy wine, try to limit it to only 1 or 2 glasses... enjoy a fresh salad as an appetizer, a roasted beet and goat cheese dish is quite delicious and filling also. For dinner, add steamed vegetables to whatever cooked foods you may be enjoying and watch the butter.

Get some exercise. It is good for the heart and the mind.

Alkaline-forming foods can be quite amazing and fresh herbs spruce up can spruce up any dish. Enjoying a 65-70% alkaline-forming diet is sure to help people on medication therapy have a more balanced pH.
