I am a 20-something, certified clinical nutritionist with a unrelenting passion for the correlation between beauty & proper nutrition.
Lost: I spent years looking for the solution to beautiful skin, a slender body, and a happy outlook on life. In a society that offers up a plethora of nutritional propaganda, it can be depressing and frustrating to repeatedly come up empty-handed.
After spending years of my life counting calories, and too much money on magical skin products…
The answer has always been in the elements we choose to nourish our bodies with.
What you put into your body has to go somewhere.
This is not a blog about dieting…
In fact, it is quite the opposite.
Eating for superior health is a lifestyle.
It is a lifestyle that can help to prevent disease, improve energy, clear skin, and trim your waistline.
So throw out those “diet” products and low-calorie snack packages and lets talk:
real food.

I think your blog is so terrific. This is the journalistic style I originally aimed for. Now I fear I become too personal in my blog…kind of feel like I need to “start over”…but i really dont want to…such a great blog…i may add u to my roll?
it is a verry nice and a challenging blog
nice dear for health to people……….
I am a full-time yoga teacher and have decided to commit myself to practicing, studying and teaching ways in which I can cultivate well-being, happiness, joy and bliss !! I feel the best way to go about this is to learn from Nature, or as I like to say: “Align with the Divine!”
I feel that the majority of our society recognizes the quick fix, the convenient way over the healthy way, which to me, is the insane way.
I just want to say that I am very happy to see someone else out there, in a different modality, aiming to be the change she wants to see in the world as well as educating others to live a better Life.
Great website, I am looking to connect with as many like-hearted people as I can that share a similar vision.
Keep up the good work.
In Joy,
John
i love your blog! your outlook on health is amazing!
Lauren,
I wanted to see what your experience is with Paleo diets and the main things to monitor while maintaining such a diet.
Also is there a difference in a sweet potato and yam when looking at the nutritional value of each?
Thanks, Jake
Lauren, glad I caught you on the way out the door Tuesday! Your online presence is just a testimony to how you come across live. I love your website and your blog both!

What a treasure! Just discovered your blog, and am having a hard time dragging myself away. I’m already well-versed nutritionally, so it’s a delight to find a place I can go for those niggling questions…like which is best for sauteeing? Olive oil (most commonly cited in recipes) or coconut oil (usually decried as unhealthy? And now I have the answer. Coconut Oil.) Reading between the lines, I am pretty sure your journey was filled w/disheartening episodes common to chronic dieters. If I’m right, all I can say is you’ve found a generous way to ‘recover,’ for which I for one am very grateful. On top of all this, you’re a beautiful creature with a charming and rigorous writing voice, so your message is even more likely to be welcomed. For better or worse we’re a telegenic society. My sauteed greens await me.
Thanks, Lauren!

Just came across your website while researching differences between the digestion of coconut vs dairy butter. Very informative and thorough answer.
I will definitely consult your website for future questions of mine.
Thank you!

Inspirational!
Very informative, well-written and researched website..and inspirational to me in my quest to find a healthy way to (re) nourish my body and, as a result, SOUL after years of diagnosed anorexia…It is comforting to find a nutritionist who seems to understand the digestive dilemmas long-term ED’s can cause and how to make things “right” again through alimentation that nourishes and repairs…
I know I will turn to your sage advise often…Thank you for your guidelines and passion…Thank you for making eating less frightening and more life-affirming than I could have ever imagined…
Great blog and a beautiful woman
Best regards from Germany

Wonderful blog!
Oh my gosh you’re gorgeous!
Your soo cool Lauren. Thanks for the info. I’ve discovered some skin secrets in my 12 years of study too, kind of by accident.
I will share them with anyone. The only proof is my Dad and I. He is 87 but everyone thinks he’s 60, having no wrinkles.
I know there is a big mass media scare concerning vitamins and wondered if you would share your thoughts on them. We go for no synthetic vitamins now, costing about .35 cents and up. Perhaps you take no vitamins at all? Its just that most people live too fast a pace and can’t do what you do? Thanks, Pete
Pete, Thanks so much for your input. Would love to hear your skin secrets!!
Vitamins… wow… well there is a lot to be said. I am not a vitamin girl because I juice a lot BUT I think food-based vitamins by an authentic brand can be legitimately healthful for most individuals.
Check out Raw Code Vitamins
and other Food-Based vitamins.
I highly recommend your nutrition lifestyle changes for skin and overall health to help in recovery for those previously in the clutches of eating disorders..Their cravings/anxieties seem to dissipate after allowing their bodies to be enriched and healed with the introduction of real food..Have you found this among your own clients?
Your blog photos exhibit an extremely lean individual…and beg the question…which i am sure many readers have asked themselves…have you yourself had experience with an eating disorder?..Could these experiences have initiated your quest for nutrition answers and healthful lifestyle changes?
The well-founded, researched answers found in your blog are invaluable ..thank you for your work!
I didn’t think you were a vitamin girl Lauren, but life is too fast sometimes and know I’m not getting the nutrition… Thanks for the info, GoL looks very interesting. Youthful looks? A gal at the gym couldn’t believe that Dad was 80 something. It has a lot to do with attitude too. One of the big problems here is that people try to work from the outside in. A gal came into the health food store looking for a particular cream. She had very silky, rubbery, smooth skin. I would guess she was 50 something. But if the idea was to hide her age, it didn’t work. From your readings I know you know its a lifestyle change, a commitment to get good nutrition, and some of the benefits will be a youthful, kind of ageless look over time. Anyway, for starters, we take water for granted. But pure water is hard to come by. It needs to be as naturally ionized, slightly magnetic and pure. The proper amounts of higher pH water alone will start to clear up skin over time. Acne is a result of too much acidity. Look at our diets of hoho’s and coke… Again, as you mention, change starts slowly, but its a new direction. Reversing this water in a sense is good for the outside or external (skin). This will get to be a book here Lauren. I’ve put a link to your site here on my site and if you want me to go on, let me know. pete
I am excited to find your blog! I share your approach of a “lifestyle” change vs. a miracle diet being the answer for people. Having recently finished a Natural Chef in Boulder, CO, I look forward to being inspired by you!
Thank you so much! You are a chef? Would love to share your recipes.
Great blog and I’m excited to have found you online. Excellent resource and a fun read.
Really enjoyed reading your blog and website. Thank you for sharing such great information
Love your blog! I just came across it and read it for hours; it’s so educational and professional. I have been considering becoming a vegetarian but there’s so much pro-meat info out there that I’ve never 100% dedicated myself to trying it. After reading this blog I’m going to go for it. There’s so many fluff articles out there about the basics behind nutrition, like “don’t drink soda” – it’s hard to find information that is really helpful for those who already know the basics. Thanks so much!!
You are so very welcome!
