An awkwardly shy 11-year girl, I grew up awed by strong women with an air of effortless confidence. One such person in my life was our neighbor and babysitter. Effortlessly popular, even my parents were at ease with her presence. This was despite the mischief we always seemed to get into with her, including but not limited to: climbing up the outside of the stair case banister, building a slide out of my brother’s bunk bed, and “booby-trapping” the water faucets in the kitchen (so that the unassuming guest would end up soaked upon turning on the faucet).

Whoops. ;)

Despite our rascally behavior, and all the fun we had under her watch, it has never been a secret as to why I idolized this young lady. Her positive personality was contagious and inspiring, she radiated beauty, her intelligenceencouraging, and her talent for effortlessly twirling her hair into a glamorous “messy bun,” something to be envied.

She always came across as strong, confident, and sure. At the my most awkward moments, she let me feel important. When I passed her in the hallways at school, she made it a point to speak to me, or let me sit next to her on the bus–

A little 5th grader getting to sit next to the most popular girl in the 8th grade? This was a big deal in my books, and it obviously had quite the impact on me. I was inspired to be… “great” (well… “great” according to a 5th grader).

When people ask what I am doing with GLOW, the explanation is much to the same tune.

GLOW is all about empowerment, knowledge, and confidence.

Eating healthfully is, from my point of view, loving oneself first, and one must in turn love oneself, in order to exude confidence, and inspire those around them.

One of the reasons I absolutely love my job as a nutritionist is that I get to empower my clients to feel healthier, stronger, and more beautiful so that they can fearlessly take on the world, and accomplish greatness—however they choose to define “greatness”.

Strong women inspire me.

I like to inspire.

Apparently I am in the right profession. I get to meet many inspiring people!

When I met Claire, a young teacher and jewelry designer, I was instantly won over by her sincerity, graciousness, and inspiring entrepreneurial spirit. With a solid appreciation for her company Gemelli’s quick success in Dallas, Claire radiates hard-earned affection for each handmade piece she creates. Coupled with the beauty of her work, and her own radiance and excitement, I found myself drawn in, and wanting to be apart of this greater passion.

Gemelli stretch bracelets are handmade from an assortment of agate gems, bone, gold vermeil, and crystal beads.

I am excited to be offering these beautiful works of art on GLOW, and… with each sale I will be personally donating 10% of the profits to Oxfam AmericaBeauty is more beautiful when it is shared.

Oxfam is a unique international organization working to create lasting solutions to poverty, hunger, and injustice.
